Good dentistry contributes to a happy healthy horse Whatever your passion.. Doesn't your horse deserve quality dentistry provided by trained professionals dedicated to helping you achieve your horsemanship goals? About the AAED Inc Diploma Project Status After four years of frustrating negotiations the AgriFood Skills Australia Diploma project has been suspended. Resistance from the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and a lack of support from State Primary Industry Departments has left AgriFood with no options for progressing the project at the National Reference Group (NRG) level. Veterinary Association Policy Opposes Diploma AVA policy currently supports Diploma level dentistry to be performed by veterinarians only, even though there is an established non veterinary Diploma job role and established businesses delivering these services both in Australia and around the world. Public Demand Being Ignored We have strong support from the public for a national Diploma qualification and although we have provided over 2000 public support signatures, the needs and wants of the horse owning public appears to be falling on deaf ears. State Legislation Supporting a Veterinary Monopoly - Horse Owners Lose Any state legislation which supports a veterinary profession monopoly on Diploma level services removes the right of horse owners to choose who delivers dentistry services. This eliminates competition and will result in increased costs to the horse owner. Industry Regulation Welcome Post Diploma Qualification The Equine Dental Industry has been working constructively with AgriFood to develop National competencies for Diploma level dentistry. These standards for training would allow industry regulation to proceed. This in turn will protect the horse owners right to choose a service provider and protect Equine Welfare. Restriction Of Trade The AAED Inc believes that delays in the development of a national Diploma qualification is damaging the industry and that action to restrict Diploma services to veterinarians is anti competitive.
